HOODWINKED TOO!: HOOD VS EVIL IN 3D - In Theaters Today!

SYNOPSIS
From the team that brought you HOODWINKED, the comedic portrayal of the fairy tale Red Riding Hood, comes the all-new animated family comedy HOODWINKED TOO!  HOOD VS.  EVIL in 3D.  The sequel finds our heroine, Red (Hayden Panettiere), training with a mysterious covert group called the Sisters of the Hood.  But Red is forced to cut her training short when she gets an urgent call from Nicky Flippers (David Ogden Stiers), who returns as head of the super-secret Happily Ever After Agency, aka the HEA.  A wicked witch (Joan Cusack) has abducted two innocent children, Hansel (Bill Hader) and Gretel (Amy Poehler), and Nicky needs Red for the search-and-rescue mission.    Of course, what is a sequel without guest stars from the original?  Thankfully, Granny (Glenn Close) and the rest of the HOODWINKED gang—including the ever-clueless Wolf (Patrick Warburton) and his over-caffeinated little partner, Twitchy (Cory Edwards), join Red to solve the forest’s latest caper.  Fracturing fairy tales and pop culture with good-natured glee, HOODWINKED  TOO!  HOOD vs. EVIL in 3D takes viewers on a rollicking rollercoaster ride combining edge-of-the-seat adventure with classic, zany cartoon antics.

All-New Curious George Mother's Day Episode Celebrates Hispanic Heritage On PBS KIDS GO!

CURIOUS GEORGE continues its 5th season with a brand new Mother’s Day episode celebrating Hispanic heritage and Latina moms. Premiering Friday, May 6, 2011 (check local listings) on PBS KIDS, “Mother’s Day Surprise” features George helping Marco surprise his Mami with a party. Together, they make a piñata and other festive decorations while Marco’s sister and the Man with the Yellow Hat prepare some of the guest of honor’s favorite foods. But when they see her arriving early, will the crew be able to pull it together in time to make this one Mother’s Day she’ll never forget? Learn about Hispanic culture and help George and Marco celebrate El Día de la Madre in this special episode of CURIOUS GEORGE.

“This Mother’s Day, we’ll continue Season 5’s exploration of the social sciences by showing kids how Marco and his family celebrate El Dia de la Madre,” says WGBH Executive Producer Dorothea Gillim. “We hope that through George’s adventures, kids will be inspired to explore their own family’s customs.”

Leading up to the Mother’s Day episode, CURIOUS GEORGE will be re-airing two of its favorite episodes featuring George’s new friend Marco. In “George and Marco Sound it Out,” airing Tuesday, May 3, 2011, Marco helps George find a place for his favorite band, Lobos de Plata, to play after their bandstand in the park is taken down. After a day of checking the acoustics at different locations around town, their last hope is the museum. Will it have a room that is quiet, won’t produce echoes, and is large enough for an entire band? Then in “George’s Home Run,” airing Thursday, May 5, 2011, Marco tries to hit his first Little League home run while George plays scorekeeper. Marco helps George learn how to count from 1 to 10, and George returns the favor by agreeing to be a pinch runner for an injured Marco. Can a speedy little monkey run the bases fast enough for Marco to get his first home run? Tune in for these adventures and more May 3-6 on PBS KIDS!

“CURIOUS GEORGE is a wonderful cultural ambassador for kids,” says Senior Vice President of
Animation Production for Universal Studios Family Productions, Ellen Cockrill. “Through these episodes and online, CURIOUS GEORGE introduces our young viewers to Hispanic heritage, and illustrates how fun it can be to explore new cultures.”

New Games on pbskids.org/curiousgeorgeThis season, get active with George’s new game “Monkey Moves,” in which kids are invited to get out of their seats and move along with George. Also, be on the lookout for a new piñata game coming soon! Help George and his friend Marco choose a piñata, decorate it, and then whack it to break the piñata open and get the goodies inside. Along the way kids will learn the Spanish words for numbers, colors, and other fun stuff. Visit
pbskids.org/curiousgeorge to find both of these upcoming games.

Based on the best-selling Curious George books by Margret and H.A. Rey, CURIOUS GEORGE the television series expands George’s world to include a host of colorful characters and original locales, while maintaining the charm of the beloved books.

WINNIE THE POOH: Easter-Themed Images, Easter Egg Designs & Coloring Sheets!

In honor of Winnie the Pooh returning to theatres this summer (July 15th), Disney has provided us with exclusive Easter-Themed Images of our favorite Hundred Acre Wood characters!

We also have included Coloring Sheets of these images that can be downloaded here https://www.relayit.net/pickup.php?c=ffvjhBsjLG37jSrkjq97zkPkc2bkwd6gt27g which can also be shared!

Finally, because Easter wouldn’t be complete without Painting and Decorating Eggs, below you will find some fun ways to design your eggs in the spirit of Winnie the Pooh and Friends!

Thanks!

Marshall J

WINNIE THE POOH is our beloved ‘hunny’-loving bear, so why not choose one of his favorite things - a honey jar – to create as an Easter egg? You want it to look like a real honey jar so use tape to cover the top of the egg where the lid will be and also a wide strip of tape around the middle for the ‘HUNNY’ label. Boil half a cup of water, mix in 30-40 drops of blue food dye, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. When it cools, gently lower the egg into the pot. The longer the egg remains in the pot, the darker the color gets! Once you are happy with the color, take it out with a spoon, dry it and remove the tape. Then stick the word ‘HUNNY’ in tape to the egg, and pop it back in the pot, just for a few seconds to make the ‘label’ pale blue. Finally, you can use acrylic paint for a blob of honey and leave the word ‘HUNNY’ in the egg’s natural color. If Pooh could see your Easter egg, he might think it looked so much like a honey jar that he would keep it in his personal collection!

TIGGER would be ecstatically happy about painting Easter eggs. You could have a go at painting an egg that looks like Tigger! First, use an orange watercolor crayon to paint the entire egg orange. While it dries, bounce around a bit – Tigger – style! Then draw in the tiger stripes with a steady hand and a black marker and fill them in with a black watercolor crayon. You can use a pink button for the nose and draw on eyebrows, eyes, mouth and whiskers with the black marker. Tigger-tastic!

EEYORE we all know would probably be less excited about painting Easter Eggs, so why not create one of his favorite food -- thistles, of course! All you need are some crayons, a little spinach and also purple and green acrylic paints. Draw the thistle with a crayon, to prevent the area from being dyed. Boil the spinach, letting it simmer for 45 minutes. Put the egg into the water to color it green. The crayon colored thistle won’t dye (due to the wax in the crayon), so you can use acrylic paints to finish your egg.  Even Eeyore would have to admit it looks pretty sweet.

PIGLET loves his friends, and his motto is “Even if you are rather small you can still have a very big heart.” Why not paint a Piglet style Easter egg, with huge hearts on it? First, draw seven hearts with a marker, and then use small pieces of sponge with different colors to paint the egg. You can paint the whole egg pale blue like the sky and then paint each of the hearts with one of the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Piglet would love this Easter egg because it’s small and cute, just like him!

To have more adventures with Pooh and friends go and see WINNIE THE POOH, the brand new film by Disney, in theatres July 15th!

ABOUT THE MOVIE
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh.” Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail.  “Ever have one of those days where you just can’t win, Eeyore?” asks Pooh.  Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some honey. Inspired by three stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, “Winnie the Pooh” hits theatres on July 15th!

Book Review: Prizewinning Political Cartoons

About the Book
The major awards given to editorial cartoonists recognize a host of techniques within the profession. Celebrating such accomplishments as journalistic merit, defense of basic freedoms, ethical behavior, professional integrity, and successful communication, this collection takes on major political issues. Recipients of the Pulitzer Prize, National Headliner Award, and the Herblock Prize, among others, have contributed their winning pictorial commentary for inclusion in this unique volume.

Also included in this volume is the international Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Award, which honored its first American competitor, Robert Ariail, for his submission on rising gas prices. Other popular topics range from Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize to Tiger Woods’ recreational activities and the Health Care Reform’s red tape. Lauded for their clarity and skill, the current group of artists has used First Amendment rights to raise awareness of the state of the nation through their own points of view.

My Take on the Book

This book is a great collection of editorial cartoons that have stood out over the past year. As a person that loves cartoons, and especially the wit of editorial cartoons, I was intrigued to read through and gather a keener understanding at what the artists were trying to share in their cartoon with their reader. You get sine great award winning cartoons, some that are in color and some that are in black and white. You will be amazed by the gathering of cartoons in one book, and at the same time you will be laughing throughout the entire book!

Curious George Celebrates President's Day Week with 3 Brand New Episodes

Celebrate President's Day with three brand new adventures featuring everyone's favorite monkey, Curious George! Starting Monday, February 21 and continuing through Wednesday February 23, CURIOUS GEORGE is back with new episodes featuring George imagining a world where everything is monkey-sized, building a soapbox derby racer, making a George-O-Matic dessert vending machine, and meeting some ewe-tiful sheep.

Monday kicks off with Downhill Racer. When George hears about the annual soapbox derby, he enlists Allie to help him make the coolest car a monkey can. Will their car made out of wagon wheels, a kayak, and brakes from a buggy race past the finish line or are they on a crash course? Next in Book Monkey, George loves books and helping others, so volunteering to help the librarian is a no-brainer!  But when she is called away, George may have volunteered for a bigger job than he expected.

On Tuesday, in Monkey Size Me, George fantasizes about a life where everything is monkey-sized...where he could drive a monkey-sized car, order a monkey-sized cake, and even wear a monkey-sized yellow hat! Then in Metal Detective, George loses his favorite robot at the beach. Can a monkey rescue a robot using a homemade metal detector?

Rounding out the new episodes on Wednesday, George is entranced by the museum's newest addition: a vending machine full of levers, wheels, springs, and healthy snacks!  So when George is put in charge of making the dessert for an important dinner party, he can think of nothing better than creating his own dessert dispensing vending machine -- the George-O-Matic. Then in Curious George, Sheep Herder, George buys a cool new scarf at the Country Fair, but with one tug on a loose strand of wool, the entire scarf unravels!  While searching for sheep that will give him some wool for another scarf, will George's baaaaaad day turn even worse?

Tune into these all-new monkey adventures beginning President's Day on PBS KIDS (check local listings)! Visit them online at  http://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/ and follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/curiousgeorge

New Martha Speaks Episodes Highlighting the Arts Airing February 21-25

I wanted to let you know that NEW MARTHA SPEAKS EPISODES are coming for President’s Day week, February 21-25! They will be celebrating the arts, specifically opera, classical music, theater, and even Greek myths.

The fun starts with “The Opera Contest” and “Maestro Martha” on Monday, February 21. In “The Opera Contest,” a local opera company is holding a contest to get kids interested in opera. When Martha helps the kids enter their own opera, will the audience shower them with applause? In “Maestro Martha,” bad guys Pablum and Weaselgraft have a plan to turn a charity concert into a heist by using the power of music…very strange music. Can Martha turn down the volume on their evil scheming before it’s too late?

On Wednesday, February 23, in “Martha Acts Up,” Mrs. Boxwood offers Martha a part in Alice in Wonderland. Martha is thrilled at her opportunity to become a star of the theater, but when she finds out she’s cast as the Cheshire cat, she’s horrified. Will Martha be able to get into character before the night of the show?

The week concludes on Friday, February 25 with the kids’ take on classic Greek myths. In “Myth Me?” and “TD’s Myth Take,” the gang turns a boring, rainy day into fun by acting out Greek myths. The trouble is, TD doesn’t like the way Greek myths end and decides to come up with his own endings. With the help of Martha and Truman, TD puts on a performance that exceeds everyone’s expectations.

Also airing during this special week is “Skits and Mr. Scruffles” and “Brave Truman” on February 22, and “Patrol Dog Martha” and “The Crooning Crook Caper” on February 24. Check local listings for exact airdates and times for all Martha Speaks episodes.

Additionally, here are a few clips from the episodes up on PBS’ YouTube channel. Here are the addresses:

DVD Review - ReBoot Seasons 1& 2

About the DVD
Since early 1990s, DOT MATRIX, ENZO, GUARDIAN BOB and thousands of BINOMES from REBOOT have thrust into battles with corrupt forces of MEGABYTES and HEXADECIMAL to stop their relentless pursuit of chaos and destruction of the high-tech city MAINFRAME. REBOOT made history for being the first fully computer-generated animated TV series when it debuted on U.S and Canadian television in 1994. The series ran four successful seasons and was seen in over 70 countries around the world, boasting a large fan base of loyal followers in kids and adult gamers alike. The show’s unique setting inside a computer allows the characters and storylines to mine the references to computers and video games for all they’re worth, giving the show its humorous edge. The innovative animation, insider humor and high octane action combine to give viewers a lot of binary bang for their buck.

Now you can relive the fast-paced animated action adventures when Shout! Factory, in association with Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc., will debut the long-awaited REBOOT: SEASONS 1 & 2 DVD set on March 1, 2011. This collectible 4-DVD set features all 23 episodes from the first and second seasons, along with special commentary by producer Christopher Brough, designer and storyboard artist Blair Peters and animator Zeke Norton. REBOOT: SEASONS 1 & 2 DVD set is priced at $29.93 SRP.

My Take on the DVD
I was interested in this DVD as I had never heard of the show before, but the premise sounds like a lot of fun and the plot seemed like it would be right up the alley for shows that I would like if given the chance. Though this series first appreared back in 1994, the animation in this was great for that period of time.

What I liked most was the unique characters and oddball humor that was in the show itself. I liked the idea of a whole civilization living inside my computer (per se) and as I think about this I find it funny that to see characters such as the feisty businesswoman Dot Matrix, her brother Enzo, and even the elderly, sorta-robotesque system administrator Phong.

The idea of the fact that at least once in each episode the characters had to interact with the User, or get turned into Nulls as well as fighting against viruses (they must be in a PC based computer) who also are threatening theur home and you get a plot that is action packed, as well as fun for the viewer to watch and become a part of!

Some of the crisis that was shown in these episodes seem somewhat real to life with viruses that could easily be seen in today's society. It was fun to see how the producers of this DVD could see the parallels to our everyday life with technology!

This was an enjoyable series and one that I know many other techy families will love as well!
